Intense ripe cassis and blackberry fruit is enveloped in roasted coffee, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, and leather. The ample tannins are silky smooth and mouth filling, making the wine rich from start to lingering finish. "The Bella Luna Vineyard is a 2,000 vine 1 acre small-vine vineyard located on Olivet Road in the Russian River Valley Appellation. The vineyard was planted in the year 2000 with 115, 459, 667, and 777 Dijon clone Pinot Noir grapes. An elegant wine with mouthwatering aromas of chocolate, cherry, and cola. From grapes grown on the Churchill Cellars estate, this wine reveals rich deep flavors of cinnamon, ripe cherries, raspberries and pomegranate. A long finish with excellent acid balance and texture on the pallet. A great food wine."

Marimar Pinot Noir Stony Block 2004 750ml
$44.99
Don Miguel Vineyard
Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Organically grown grapes
The Stony Block was planted with the Dijon 115 clone in 1997, and is organically grown.
"This first release of Stony Block shows deep aromas of raspberry and forest floor, with the elegant oak providing a harmonious framework. The spicy elements, reminiscent of clove, are characteristic of this block. The firm tannins,
finesse and complexity suggest the trademark of a grand cru from Burgundy. The wine opens up to reveal a structure
that promises a long life in the bottle. It is the perfect wine to accompany a dish of grilled lamb."
Winery notes
"Decant for an hour, although we found this wine became exceptional after nearly six hours of decanting."

Chasseur Pinot Noir 2006 750ml
$44.99
Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
"Both depth of fruit and a sense of coiled strength are apparent in the aromas of this youthful Pinot, as its dark core of cherry and grenadine is neatly counter-pointed by savory notes of roasted grain, dried orange and tobacconist-shop spice. It is rich in texture, with a sinewy palate-feel and plenty of fruit, firmed by polished tannins. The impression of youth is amplified in the lingering finish, which is a tightly wound mix of sweet pomegranate, red plum, roasted grain, sumac and dried orange." - winery notes
"Decant for twenty minutes. As we only have a one case allocation, I was unable to taste this vintage. However, the past vintages from Bill Hunter of Chasseur Winery have been exquisite. The youthful winery description would suggest cellaring through 2012."

Bohemian Vineyard Pinot Noir 2006 750ml
$45.99
Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Estate Grown
"The Bohemian Vineyard is a seven-acre parcel in Freestone off the Bohemian Highway that was developed from 1998-2000 and which began yielding mature crop in 2002. The Russian River Valley Appellation with its cool foggy nights and warm days has the optimum microclimate to grow ultra premium Pinot Noir grapes. Dijon clones 115, 667 and 777. Only 250 cases produced."
Winery notes
"The Bohemian Vineyard Pinot Noir from 2006 has sharp red fruit flavors of cranberry, cherry which give way to a long subtly smokey finish with well defined mineral notes. Try pairing this small production pinot noir with grilled salmon or wild mushroom tartin. Decant for a minimum of twenty minutes. Cellar now through 2013."

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

This very dark, ruby colored Pinot Noir has great fruit expression along with a bit of a floral note on the nose. There is quite a bit of weight to the wine, but it has a very smooth texture. A fair amount of acidity and just a touch of tannin and oak contribute to a very long, satisfying finish.

"Tight, with fresh earth, mineral, green apple and lemony citrus notes that are compact and concentrated, ending with a long, clean, fruity aftertaste. Drink now through 2011."
"Showing balanced depth and complexity, light straw to golden color, aromas unfold with layers of lemon peel, green apple, orange blossom and wet stone minerality. This vintage shows weighted richness on the palate, a supple texture, long clean finish with fresh and bright acidity. Showing very well now and will continue to gain complexity for 1 - 3 years."

"A lovely pairing for citrus stuffed roasted chicken and an exquisite sipping chardonnay."

Here's a terrific value. Bracing, this pear and honey flavored Champagne exhibits depth and density, suggesting it just needs some time to integrate all the elements. Nice harmony and length.
